‘Gramodyog Vikas Yojana’ programme launched by MoMSME
The MSME Ministry has given the approval to start a programme for the benefit and welfare of artisans involved in the manufacturing of agarbatti and also to develop village industry under the ‘Gramodyog Vikas Yojana’. As of now, four pilot projects have been decided to be started in the country including one in the North-East.
Details of the Scheme
As per the scheme, each targeted cluster of artisans will be suppo0rted with about 50 automatic agarbatti making machines and 10 mixing machines. A total of 200 automatic agarbatti making machines and 40 mixing machines will be provided to the artisans. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) will be providing training and assisting artisans working in this area with the infrastructure.
Implementation of Scheme
KVIC is going to tie up with Khadi institutions and agarbatti makers in the country having an impeccable track record for providing work to the artisans and also raw materials for making the agarbattis.
Significance of the Scheme
The scheme is going to give a fillip to the domestic agarbatti industry and also will reduce the overall import of the product from the other countries. Apart from that, the artisans will get a steady flow of work with the intervention of the government. It will immediately generate around 500 additional jobs instantly in each and every town where it is implemented.
