GramNet

The Minister of State for Communications has reiterated the government’s commitment to provide Wi-Fi in all the villages through GramNet with connectivity between 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps speed.

Initiatives to Provide Broadband Connectivity

• BharatNet – Providing 1 Gbpsto Gram Panchayats upgradeable to 10 Gbps
• GramNet – Connecting all key rural development institutions with 10 Mbps upgradeable to 100 Mbps.
• NagarNet – Establishing 1 Million public Wi-Fi Hotspots in urban areas.
• JanWiFi – Establishing 2 Million Wi-Fi Hotspots in rural areas.

The government wants to pay tribute to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhiji by empowering the people, especially in rural and remote areas by providing telephone and Wi-Fi facilities in all corners of the country on any mobile phone. This will play a great role in the development of self-reliant Indian village which was a dream of Bapu.
