Govt relaxed land transfer to prevent delays in PPP projects
Union govt removed the ban on transfer of government-owned land, eased the land transfer policy, and did away with the need for Cabinet approval for certain categories of projects, including public-private partnership.
The move has been taken to prevent PPP from procedural delays.
It was causing long delays in granting concessions for infrastructure projects that are executed especially in PPP mode. This decision will benefit road, railways, ports, civil aviation and metro projects.
The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has also been permitted to use rail land in agreement with the provisions of the Railways Amendment Act, 2005 and the rules framed under it, and guidelines of the Railway Ministry.
