Government E-Marketplace integrated with CPPP: Key Facts
Government eMarketplace (GeM) has been merged with the Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP) for the creation of a Unified Procurement System. The integrated system will combine the whole public buying of goods and services onto one platform.
What is Custom Bid introduced in the portal?
The custom bid will permit a buyer to bid on GeM although the category of product or service that the person wants is not accessible on the GeM portal.
What are the benefits of the integrated system?
- The integrated system will enhance the buying and selling occurance and processes for ministries, segments and other agencies complexes in the system.
- The portal would build all the government buyers including defence, railways and public sector agreement to publish their high value tenders for an estimated order value exceeding Rs. 50 lakh.
- It will give a single user experience to buyers and sellers.
- The systems objective is to combine the scattered vendor bases on publishing portals onto GeM.
- It would also lead to a good price discovery and spread the best practices in government or public procurement.
The portal consists of advanced attributes including:
- Extraordinary search engine by using Natural Language Processing
- Leading analytics using artificial intelligence that comprise machine learning
- Restore brand and product acceptance process
- Fast development of categories for goods and services by examine the tender.
What is Government E-Market Place?
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry set up an online platform for public procurement in India. The GeM initiative was set up on 9th August, 2016. The main objective of the platform was to develop an open and transparent procurement platform for government buyers. It is run by Special Purpose Vehicle and is wholly Government-owned non-profit company. The portal benefits a wide range of products such as office stationery and Automobiles. The portal lists the facilities including transportation, logistics, waste management, web casting and analytics. 6,04,468 sellers and service providers are submitted with the portal so far.
What is Central Public Procurement Portal?
It is a customized portal developed to carter the electronic procurement/ tendering needs of the Central Government Departments and other organizations.
Who implemented the CPPP?
Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, National Informatics Centre (NIC) in partnership with Ministry of Finance, the Procurement Policy Division has advanced, announced and implemented the Central Public Procurement Portal
What is the objective of CPPP?
The main objective of the portal is to give a single point entry to the data on procurements created across different Ministries and the line Departments.
