GoI: New Economic Corridor Projects of Rs 20,000 crores in Haryana
On July 13, 2020, the Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs inaugurated and laid foundation stones to new economic corridors in the state of Haryana.
Highlights
The projects will help the state of Haryana to provide smooth connectivity to states of Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Also, the projects will save fuels, cost and time and will help in the development of backward areas of the state.
Economic corridors
Economic corridors are networks of infrastructure that are designed to stimulate economic development. They connect economic agents in a particular geographic area. The term “Economic Corridor” was coined by the Asian Development Bank in 1998.
What are the projects?
The important projects to be inaugurated in the state include
- 227 km of 6 lane on NH 152D with a cost of Rs 8,650 crores. It connects Ismailpur and Narnaul
- 11 km of 4-lane in NH 352W
- 4 km of 4-lane
- 45 km of 4-lane in NH 11 at a cost of Rs 1057 crores.
- 6 lane Narnaul bypass on NH 148B and NH 11
