GoI: Dashboard launched to provide details about dhabas and repair shops

On April 21, 2020, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways launched a dashboard in its website www.morth.nic.in. The dashboard will provide information about dhabas and trucks.

Highlights

The dashboard has been launched to help cargo and truck drivers and cleaners. A call number 1033 has been activated to answer calls. All the necessary healthcare protocols and precautions have to be followed in these repair shops and dhabas.

The List

The Ministry has created a list of dhabas and truck repair shops that are to operate during the extended lock down. With the lock down getting extended with new guidelines, normalcy is being brought back in green zones. However, these zones should stick to strict rules. Some states like Assam and Uttar Pradesh have permitted limited list of dhabas. On the other hand, certain states have allowed sale of food only at outlets of oil marketing companies.

In either case, the lists are to be put up in the ministry’s website. The states shall decide the number of shops to be opened according to the Home Ministry. Also, the National Highway Authority of India has begun its toll collection operation from April 20, 2020.
