Global Promotion of AYUSH Systems of Medicine

The Ministry of Ayush has launched a comprehensive initiative to promote AYUSH systems of medicine internationally, which aims to enhance global awareness and recognition of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homeopathy. The initiative also seeks to encourage research collaborations and support the export of AYUSH products.

Objectives of the Programme

The primary objectives include raising awareness about AYUSH systems, promoting international recognition, and facilitating academic collaborations. The program also aims to boost exports of AYUSH products and services while providing training opportunities globally.

The Ministry has signed 24 agreements with various countries and 15 with international institutions to establish AYUSH Academic Chairs abroad. These agreements facilitate research and academic exchanges, enhancing the global presence of AYUSH.

AYUSH Academic Chairs

AYUSH Academic Chairs have been established in countries such as Bangladesh, Australia, and Malaysia. These Chairs promote research and public awareness about AYUSH. Appointments last for one year but can be extended up to three years, with the Ministry covering salaries and travel expenses.

AYUSH Information Cells

The Ministry has set up 42 AYUSH Information Cells in 38 countries, serve as resources for disseminating information about AYUSH systems and encouraging stakeholder interaction.

The International AYUSH Fellowship/Scholarship Program offers scholarships to foreign students to study AYUSH in India. This initiative aims to enhance global understanding and appreciation of AYUSH systems.

Events and Celebrations

Global celebrations like Yoga and Ayurveda Days are organised to spread awareness about AYUSH. These events help create a broader interest in traditional medicine. The Ministry collaborates with foreign institutions to exchange knowledge and expertise. Indian experts participate in international events, while foreign experts engage in similar activities in India, strengthening the global network of AYUSH practitioners.
