Global Potato Conclave 2020 Begins at Gandhinagar
The third Global Potato Conclave commenced at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on Tuesday, 28th January 2020 and will conclude on Friday, 31st January 2020. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi addressed the conclave through video-conferencing on Tuesday and informed that the central government has transferred a record Rs 12,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of six crore farmers in January 2020.
Two Global Potato Conferences were organized in 1999 and 2008, one in every 10 years. The conclave for this decade is being organized by the Indian Potato Association (IPA) in association with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Shimla based ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute and International Potato Centre (CIP), Peru. The four-day global event will showcase the achievements in potato research and set a blueprint for the decade. During the first three days of the event, Potato Expo Exhibition is being organized, also presentations will be made by the speakers of National/International repute on various themes of the conclave.
