“Global Investor Summit” for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir; Road Shows to attract investments
The Government of India is making preparation in full swing for the Global Investors Summit to be held in Jammu and Kashmir in April 2020.
Highlights
In order to increase the number of investments roadshows are to be conducted from February 17, 2020. The roadshows are to be held in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. The Union Territory is to send 54 senior officials to preside over the roadshows. Jammu and Kashmir will also hold International Roadshows.
GoI Measures
After Abrogation of Article 370, GOI has been taking several measure to improve the infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. In the Budget 2020-21, the Union Government allocated Rs 30,757 crores separately for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. Also, several foreign delegates are allowed to visit the region. This gives them an opportunity to assess the situation in Kashmir and its normalcy. In turn such assessments will help to bring in more foreign investments.
Several roads, railway lines tunnels and bridges were built. Under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Jammu and Kashmir achieved highest road length in the country in 2019.
