Group of Twenty (G-20), a forum of world’s 20 largest economies, including India launched W20, an engagement grouping of women leaders in order to push for gender inclusive global economic growth.
UNGA adopts text-based negotiations on UN Security Council (UNSC) reforms
United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted text-based negotiations on UN Security Council (UNSC) reforms. It will set the stage for talks on the UNSC reforms issue at its 70th session. The draft text-based negotiations include questions on equitable representation and increase in the membership of UNSC.
Nepal adopts first democratic constitution
Nepal has adopted new Constitution marking the country’s transition to a secular and democratic republic. The new Constitution was unveiled by Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav at a special ceremony held in Parliament at Kathmandu.
G-4 countries Joint statement for UNSC Reforms
G-4 countries viz Brazil, Germany, India and Japan have issued a Joint Statement on United Nations Security Council Reforms (UNSC). It was issued after G-4 meeting held in New York,US which was called by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was attended by Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.
UN adopts Sustainable Development Goals
United Nations has unanimously adopted an ambitious agreement on the outcome document New Sustainable Development Agenda for the next 15 years i.e. till 2030. The document in this regard was adopted in 70th session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Temple of Bel Destroyed by ISIS
Islamic State (IS) militant group has destroyed part of historical Temple of Bel in the ancient site of Palmyra in Syria. The ancient temple was dedicated to the Palmyrene gods and was one of the best preserved parts of the historical sites of Palmyra.
Mount McKinley renamed as MountDenali
United States has changed the name of tallest mountain in North America Mount McKinley to its original native name Denali.
