The Union Government has appointed three outside experts as members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which will set interest rates. The appointees are Indian Statistical Institute professor Chetan Ghate, Delhi School of Economics director Pami Dua and Ravindra H Dholakia of IIM-Ahmedabad. The experts will serve for four years and are not eligible for re-appointment. In the six-member MPC- the other 3 members are from RBI – will conduct its first monetary policy review on October 4, 2016. These are RBI governor Urjit Patel, deputy governor R. Gandhi, who is also in charge of the monetary policy, and executive director Michael Patra.The RBI governor will have a casting vote in case of a tie.

The ministry has made an initial allotment of allocation of Rs. 490 crore for the period 2016-2020 for the National SC/ST Hub. The hub would operate from National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Headquarters in Delhi, supported by a special cell created for this purpose. The hub would primarily aid in strengthening market access/linkage, monitoring, capacity building,leveraging financial support schemes and sharing industry best practices, etc.

The exhibition will include ‘Chalo Chalein Taj programme’ under which around 1,500 cancer-affected children and their families will visit the Taj Mahal.
