Kumar Mangalam Birla, the chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, has been conferred the ABLF Global Asian Award for powerful individuals whose business footprint and commitment to excellence have engaged international interest and attention. The Asia Business Leadership Forum (ABLF) is backed by the UAE government, and currently runs in three forms- talks, awards and publications.

Notes:
Former Chief Election Commissioner Tirunellai Narayanaiyer Seshan has passed away in Chennai on 10th of November 2019. He was known for cracking the whip on money and muscle power in elections, and proved to be a nemesis for political parties. His work as CEC got an international recognition when he was given the Ramon Magsaysay award for 1996. He was the only one to hold the post of CEC for 6 years from 1990 to 1996 in the last 50 years. 

Notes:
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has proposed to merge Assam Rifles with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and to serve under the operational control of the MHA. At present, the Assam Rifles (a Central paramilitary force) is under the administrative control of the MHA and operational control of the Army, i.e. the Ministry of Defence. The Army is opposed to this proposal.

Iran has recently restarted enriching uranium to 5% at its Fordow underground mountain nuclear plant  in a new departure from its commitments under a landmark international 2015 nuclear pact. Iran’s latest move comes after the passing of a deadline it set for the remaining parties to the 2015 pact to come up with a mechanism that would allow foreign firms to continue doing business with Iran without incurring US penalties.

Ramakant Gundecha (56), the Padma Shri-awardee Dhrupad vocalist, has passed away in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on 9th November 2019. He was the younger one among the famous Gundecha brothers (Umakant-Ramakan).They were the founders of the Gurukul Drupad Sansthan in Bhopal.
