Sunil Kanoria, Vice-chairman of SERI Infrastructure Finance Ltd., has taken the charge as President of ASSOCHAM. Kanoria has succeeded Rana Kapoor, Yes Bank Managing Director and CEO. Sunil Kanoria is also the joint Managing Director of SREI BNP Paribas, a joint-venture between SREI Infrastructure Finance Limited and BNP Paribas Leasing Group, France. He has also worked as Member of the Working Group on Construction for the Tenth Five-Year Plan (2002-07) of the Planning Commission, Government of India.

Recently, the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has launched several schemes for disabled persons in the country. The schemes are : DISHA (Early Intervention and School Readiness Scheme); VIKAAS (Day Care); GHARAUNDA (Group Home for Adults); SAMARTH (Respite Care); NIRAMAYA (Health Insurance Scheme); GYAN PRABHA (Educational support); SAHYOGI (Caregiver training scheme); PRERNA (Marketing Assistance); SAMBHAV (Aids and Assisted Devices) and BADHTE KADAM (Awareness and Community Interaction). SAMBHAV is a scheme to setup additional resource centres, one each in each city of the country (apart from Delhi where there is currently a Sambhav centre) with population greater than 5 million(As per 2011 census), to collate and collect the Aids, software and other form of assistive devices developed with a provision of display and demonstration of the devices.

The 12th South Asian Games (SAG) will be held in Guwahati, Assam and Shillong, Meghalaya, India in 2016. The first South Asian games were held in Nepal in 1983 with eight countries participating. The Games are held every two years except for some occasions.

The Rupay classic card holders are provided with Rs. 1,00,000/- insurance coverage for death due to accidental injury and permanent disability. RuPay (Rupee + Payment) is India’s first locally designed and developed debit card offered by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Recently, the government of India has extended the usage criterion of the RuPay debit cards in order to avail of the in-built insurance cover. Earlier, cardholders had to use the card within 45 days prior to claim the insurance claim. This has now been extended to 90 days.
