June 30, 2013 at 5:17 pmGE installed India’s first hydroelectric power plant at Shivanasamudra, Karnataka, in 1902. Sir K Sheshadri Iyer Power Station is named after the Dewan of Mysore, who commissioned the project to generate power for the Kolar Gold Fields. The plant was granted the status of a National Heritage Centre in May 2006. It is still functional today!
