There is a heavy ethical responsibility on the public servants because they occupy positions of power, handle huge amounts of public funds, and their decisions have wide-ranging impact on society and environment. What steps have you taken to improve your ethical competence to handle such responsibility? (150 words)

I have taken the following steps improve my ethical competence so that I may be ready to handle such heavy responsibility:-

• Read about various personalities known for taking ethical stands, so that they serve as inspiration and motivate me when my ethics are tested. Also, I try to learn from their experiences.
• Put myself in situations where my endurance against temptations to be unethical is tested.
• Work on my self-control and ability to exercise restraint in the face of adversity.
• Work on not being swayed by the influence of power and money
• Develop a clear understanding of what is right and what is wrong. Educate myself on the importance and necessity of ethics, and remember the repercussions of being unethical
