General Elections in Singapore 2015
On 11 September, General Elections were held on Singapore for election of members of parliament (Parlimen Singapura). This was first time when all seats in Singapore were contested. The People’s Action Party (PAP) emerged winner with a win over 82 seats.
It is interesting to note that every five years, there is an election in Singapore but the people out there don’t even ask if there is someone else who can better run the country than the People’s Action Party. This party is ruling the city state for half a century. The recent win was its 14th consecutive victory and PAP swept 70% of all votes. We note here that Opinion Polls are banned in Singapore and due to this; it is always difficult to gauge the strength of opposition. However, this party wins always due to its track record since Lee Kuan Yew as the prime minister of the new nation. Currently, this party is led by Lee Hsien Loong, who is prime minister since 2004.
