France confers ‘Officer of the Legion of Honor’ upon actor Shahrukh Khan

France will confer the honor ‘Officer of the Legion of Honour’ upon Indian actor Shahrukh Khan for his contribution to Cinema.
Officier de la Legion d’Honneur (Officer of the Legion of Honour) is the highest award among Civilians and Military conferred by France upon French citizen as well as foreigners.
Shahrukh Khan is the second Bollywood actor after Amitabh Bachchan to be bestowed with Legion of Honour. Amitabh Bachchan received the honour in 2007.
Other Indian luminaries who have been decorated with France highest honor are Lata Mangeshkar and Satyajit Ray.
Previously, Shahrukh Khan was honored with Officier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the Government of France in 2007. The Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri in 2005.
