Foodgrains output exceeds target for 2013
Projections of food grain production are increased by 5.22 million tonnes to 255.36 million tonnes. Food grain production estimate include estimation of:
- Wheat
- Rice
- Coarse cereals
- Pulses
- Oilseeds
- Sugarcane

Assumption taken for estimates:
- The first estimate was on the basis of previous actual figures and the following trend.
- The revised estimate is taken on the basis of actual crop cutting in first quarter.
The production of cereals, pulses, groundnut and oilseeds has slight improvement due to drought affected areas- Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan.
