Fishing Cats

Fishing cats are mainly found in the marshy wetlands of northern and eastern India and on mangroves of the east coast. Since 2016, it has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. Odisha state government has designated this species as the ambassador of the Chilika during the celebration of ‘Wildlife Week’ last year. The first-ever survey of fishing cat is being conducted in and around Chilika lake in Odisha.
