First time in the country- Tamil Nadu to print RTI replies in Braille
As a first in the country, Tamil Nadu State Information Commission (TNSIC) will provide RTI replies in Braille.
Objective: As per the TNSIC more than 7 lakh visually challenged people would get the benefits through this step. Thus it would help blind people file RTI applications or receive replies without depending on others.
If an RTI application seeks information in Braille, the printed reply from the commission will be forwarded to National Institute for the Visually Handicapped for its conversion into Braille. For each page of information the applicant will be charged Rs 1 as the financial constraints do not allow TNSIC to furnish information free-of-cost.
