First Pawan Hans Helicopter Service Launched in Uttarakhand under UDAN-RCS Scheme
The Civil Aviation Minister has flagged off the first-ever helicopter service by Pawan Hans in Uttarakhand under the UDAN-RCS (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik – Regional Connectivity Scheme) in order to improve the connectivity of various areas in the hilly state.
Highlights
The new helicopter service is going to enable connectivity between Dehradun, New Tehri, Srinagar and Gauchar in the state. The service is going to enhance the aerial connectivity between the regions of the state and also reduce the overall average travel time to 20-25 minutes between these regions. This will be helpful in the Chaar Dhaarm Yatra Program also, as it will be operational on a thrice-weekly basis. The company is planning to commence helicopter services between two more networks connecting Dehradun to Ramnagar, Pantnagar, Nainital, Almora, Pithoragarh and Dehradun to Mussoorie very soon.
UDAN-RCS Scheme
The UDAN Scheme was launched in 2017 as a flagship program of the Union Government to start air operations on the un-served routes in the country so that they can be connected for promotion of balanced regional growth and affordable flying for the masses. This is a key component of the National Civil Aviation Policy as well.
