First Farmer Centric Event ‘Farmers Science Congress’ inaugurated in ISC
For the first time in the 107 years of history of the Indian Science Congress (ISC), The Farmer’s Science Congress is inaugurated, underlining the significance of farmer’s revolution and their scientific validity which is a big encouragement for the farmer’s community at The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru.
Farmer’s innovation on integrated agriculture and entrepreneurship for doubling farmer’s income, climate change, biodiversity, conservation, ecosystem services & farmers empowerment and agrarian distress, rural bio-entrepreneurship, policy issues were the topics discussed by experts from the different agriculture sector.
Government secretary of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education & the Director-General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, highlighted the benefits for farmers from such a big platform and to encourage innovations made by farmers, farmer’s Innovation Fund & Innovation Centres will be established plus ICAR are developing Nano fertilizers and nano pesticides for promoting organic farming and he invited school children to take a keen interest in agriculture.
