Final Estimate of 2018-19 & First Estimate of 2019-20 of Horticultural Crops Released

The Department of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers Welfare (under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare) has recently released the Final Estimates of 2018-19 of various Horticulture Crops. The first Advance Estimates of 2019-20 of Area and Production of various Horticulture Crops was also released.

As per the released final estimates of 2018-19, the total Horticulture Production of the country is estimated to be 310.74 Million Tonne in 2018-19, which is slightly higher than the Horticulture Production in 2017-18. Increase in Fruits, Flowers, Spices, and Honey was noted while there was a decrease in Vegetables, Aromatic & Medicinal Plants and Plantation Crops.

As per the first advance estimated of 2019-20, horticultural production is estimated to increase by 0.84 percent as compared with the previous year, in which the production in fruits, flowers, and Spices is expected to be lesser than what was expected, while vegetables, medicinal & aromatics, and plantations are estimated to increase. The total Horticultural area as per the first estimate is 25.61 million hectares, while the total production is estimated to be 313.35 million tonnes.
