FIFA world ranking: Spain still FIFA's No:1 ranked team

The World and European champion Spain remains No. 1 for the 29th consecutive month in the FIFA men’s soccer rankings. Spain holds a big lead over Germany. Argentina was third, followed by Colombia, Portugal, Uruguay, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Brazil.   World Cup host Brazil is 10th, with the United States in 14th.

The FIFA world rankings are determined by points awarded from match results in a three-year period, with more recent games given greater weight. Teams get additional points for playing relatively strong opponents. The next ranking update is scheduled for Feb. 13, 2014.

The top 25 was unchanged after a month that included only 18 international matches — all exhibitions.
