  • Prominent sculptor Ganapati Sthapati passes away
  • Sculpted the renowned Tiruvalluvar statue in Kanyakumari and Buddha statue in Hussainsagar

He was the Chief Architect for many Sculptures and buildings including Sculpture of Tamil poet and saint Thiruvalluvar—Thiruvalluvar Statue at the southern tip of India at Kanyakumari, TN, India (measuring 133 feet (40.5 m) in elevation), Sri Murugan Temple, Nadi-Fiji islands, The San Marga Iraivan Temple, Kauai, Hawaii and Granite sculpture of the Madhavi—heroine of the Tamil epic Silappathikaram, erected in an Art Gallery in Poompuhar, Chennai, TN, India

 

  • He founded ‘Vaastu Vedic Trust’ & ‘Vaastu Vedic Research Foundation’, with an objective of research, growth, and globalisation of ‘Vaastu Shastra’
  • Professor  Sthapati pioneered the growth of the American University of Mayonic Science and Technology as an official organization to tutor this body of knowledge in the western world
  • Sthapati wrote many books on Vastu Shastra and carried on various seminars
  • Books he wrote include Temples of Space Science: The Building Architecture of Sthapatya Veda , ‘Iconometry’ and ‘Commentary on Mayan’s Aintiram’
  • Padma Bhushan was conferred in him in 2009
