Fagradalsfjall

Fagradalsfjall is a volcanic mountain in Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. Recently, a fissure site near the mountain spewed lava following a series of small earthquakes. More than 40,000 earthquakes were recorded in the area over a period of 4 weeks. This is the first eruption in the peninsula since the 12th century. As Iceland is located between the North American and the Eurasian tectonic plates, it is seismically and volcanically active.
