Facebook bans Taliban supporting content

Social media giant, Facebook, banned the Taliban and all the content supporting it from its platforms after designating the Taliban as a terrorist organisation.

• Facebook has a dedicated team of Afghan experts that is monitoring and removing content linked to this Islamic insurgent group.
• Taliban has been using social media to spread its messages for years.
• So, Facebook has banned the group from its service under the Dangerous Organisation Policies. Under this policy of Facebook, accounts maintained by or on behalf of Taliban and account that prohibit praise, support, and represent them will be removed.
• Facebook also said, it does not make decisions about recognition of national governments. It only follows the authority of international community.
• This policy is applied to all of its platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp.
