Extension of Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20
The Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20 has been extended by the government by six months up to 30th September 2022.
Overview:
- Till 31st March 2022, the existing Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20 was valid.
- It has now been extended till 30th September 2022.
- This announcement was done by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.
- After the Covid-19 pandemic started, this policy was first extended by a year to March 2020’s end and later till 30th
About the policy
This trade policy provides guidelines to enhance exports so as to create jobs and push economic growth and various incentives under different schemes like Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) and Duty-Free Import Authorisation (DFIA). This policy also provides a framework that looks to increase the exports of goods and services and employment generation which will help in increasing the country’s value addition while keeping in mind the “Make in India” vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The policy’s focus is on supporting both the services as well as manufacturing sectors. A special emphasis on improving the ease of doing business is also given under this policy. This trade policy also describes the product and market strategy and the measures that are required for the promotion of trade, development of infrastructure, and the trade ecosystem’s enhancement.
