Exercise INIOCHOS-25

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in Exercise INIOCHOS-25. This biennial multinational air exercise is hosted by the Hellenic Air Force in Greece. Scheduled from 31 March to 11 April 2025, the exercise aims to enhance international cooperation among air forces. It focuses on simulating modern air warfare challenges.

Purpose

INIOCHOS-25 serves as a platform for air forces to improve skills. It facilitates the exchange of tactical knowledge. The exercise strengthens military ties among participating nations. It prepares forces for complex air operations in realistic combat scenarios.

Exercise Phases

  • Phase 1 (March 24-30): Deployment of forces.
  • Phase 2 (March 31-April 11): Main execution phase with various air operations.
  • Phase 3 (April 11-13): Redeployment of forces.

Participating Nations and Assets

Each country contributes various air and surface assets. The IAF’s contingent includes Su-30 MKI fighter jets, IL-78 refuelling aircraft, and C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft.

Training and Tactical Development

The exercise allows participants to plan and execute combined air operations. It focuses on refining tactics in complex scenarios. Participants will gain vital information about operational best practices. This training is crucial for enhancing combat readiness and operational capabilities.

Operational Coordination and Mutual Learning

All operations will be conducted from Andravida Air Base. This centralised approach aids in effective coordination among forces. The exercise promotes mutual learning among participants. It encourages an environment for sharing experiences and strategies.

Future Implications
