EU’s primary source of electricity
In a first, renewable source of energy surpassed fossil fuels in the European Union, making it the primary source of electricity. According to the study titled ‘The European Power Sector in 2020’, renewable energy generation accounted for 38% of the Europe’s electricity last year. This exceeds the 37% market share of the fossil fuels during the same period. Thus, 2020 is deemed to be the greenest electricity year on record for Europe.
