Emergency declared in California anticipating wild fires
Following the burning of more than 1.8 hectares of forest land in 2018, precautionary steps are being done in California. California receives its rainfall during winter. The vegetation dries in summer kindling fires. Forest fires also occur during the months of October in California. This is driven by the Santa Ana winds that bring dry air from Great Basin area. If the rains fail as happened in October 2018, these winds make the dry vegetation drier starting the fire.
