Ejiao is a hard gel used in food or drink or in cosmetics. It is believed to improve blood circulation and is being used by people with anaemia or reproductive problems. It is used in the Chinese market for manufacturing traditional medicines. The increased demand in China for this purpose is believed to the cause of the sharp decline of India’s donkey population over the last decade. It is also impacting the global donkey population.
