Education sector received the maximum CSR funds from 2014-15 to 2017-18
The Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Singh Thakur in a written reply to Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, 10th December 2019 informed that the Educational sector has received the maximum Corporate social responsibility(CSR) spent during the financial years from 2014-15 to 2017-18.
A grand total of Rs 15,742.33 crores have been spent for the development of the educational sector as per the filings made by the companies in the MCA(Ministry of Corporate Affairs) 21 registry.
Yearly breakup- In Financial year(FY) 2014-15 2,589.42 crores, FY 2015-16 4,057.45, FY 2016-17 4,500.82 and FY 2017-18 4,594.64 making a total of 15,742.33 crores.
The Minister also informed that CSR is a Board driven process and the Board of the company is empowered to decide the activities that have to be undertaken as per the Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013.
