Earth’s fifth layer

Scientists have recently discovered signs of a hidden structure inside the Earth’s core. Previously, only four layers were known in Earth’s core. These are the crust, the mantle, the outer core and the inner core. The existence of fifth layer has been suspected for more than a decade now but little proof existed. Recently, travel time of seismic waves travelling inside the Earth and a new algorithm were used to provide evidence of its existence.
