Dr. Dangs Lab to Partner with Bharat Biotech for Human Trials of Covaxin

The Delhi-based private laboratory, Dr Dangs Lab, has announced that they have been selected as the central laboratory for human clinical trials of Covaxin, which is touted as the first-ever indigenous vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research and National Institute of Virology, Pune.

The human clinical trial is going to be a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multi-centric clinical trial in India. The laboratory has announced that it is processing all samples for screening and safety for the various phases of the clinical trials whereas the efficacy studies are going on at NIV.

The lab is now getting samples from 50-100 subjects per day from various trial sites for safety testing and will be increasing the operations very soon to cover 12 sites across the length and breadth of the country. The most stringent level of quality control is being followed in line with the norms specified by the regulatory authority.
