Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra

The objective of the recently mooted Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra is to empower the rural women to realize their full potential by means of community participation. Such centres will be established under ‘Mission for Protection and Empowerment for Women’ which was started by the ministry of women and child development. The period is 2017-18 and 2019-20.
The scheme has been introduced with a budget of Rs 3636.85 crore with the Centre having to pay Rs 3084.96 crore.
Under the scheme a task force is to be created common for the national, state and district level. It shall work for planning, reviewing and monitoring this scheme for the purpose of seeing real action and cost efficiency.
The scheme contains specific set guidelines that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. Structures are being set up at the national and state levels that will help the governments in terms of technical support with respect to issues related to women. The women shall be provided with an interface to approach the authorities for claiming any of the entitlements under any Acts or schemes.
