Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, on the same day as Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. This initiative focuses on improving the living conditions of tribal communities across India.

Financial Overview

The total budget for DAJGUA is Rs. 79,156 crores. The Central Government will contribute Rs. 56,333 crores, and the State Governments will provide Rs. 22,823 crores. This large investment shows the government’s strong commitment to improving tribal development.

Goals of DAJGUA

The initiative focuses on the overall development of tribal areas by:

Critical Infrastructure: Improving health, education, and jobs with 25 key measures.

Multiple Ministries Involved: 17 different government ministries will work together to ensure success and outreach.

Who will Benefit?

The programme will help about 5 crore tribal people in 63,843 villages, 549 districts, and 2,911 blocks spread across 30 states and Union Territories in India.

Areas of Improvement

Housing: The programme will provide permanent houses with water and electricity to eligible families.

Village Infrastructure: Building roads that can be used in all weather, improving mobile connectivity, and creating better health and education facilities.

Skill Development: Offering training to tribal youth to help them become self-employed and learn new skills after finishing school.

Education: Increasing the number of tribal children enrolled in schools and setting up tribal hostels to ensure quality education.

Healthcare: Expanding access to healthcare services and working to lower infant and maternal death rates with mobile medical units.

Innovative Support

Marketing Help: Setting up Tribal Multipurpose Marketing Centres to give tribal communities better access to markets.

Tourism Development: Promoting homestays to boost tourism and provide new ways for tribal people to earn money.

Sickle Cell Disease Diagnosis: Improving testing and treatment for sickle cell disease in tribal areas.

DAJGUA is a major effort by the Indian government to uplift tribal communities and promote sustainable development. It builds on past programmes like PM-JANMAN, focusing on giving extra help to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, ensuring long-term support and progress for tribal regions across India.
