Delhi’s Child Rights Body’s WhatsApp chatbot
The Government of Delhi constituted the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005. Since its constitution, the DCPCR launched several technological interventions to establish a good communication link between the government and the people. Recently, the DCPCR launched the WhatsApp chatbot called “BAL MITRA”
What is BAL MITRA Chatbot?
- The chatbot will help the citizens communicate with DCPCR
- Parents can discuss education-related issues like admission issues with the commission
- The chatbot tries to remove the communication gap between the public and the government

- Complaint registration
- Tracking the status of the complaint
- Acquiring information about admissions
- Providing information on children’s rights
- It allows people to report confidential matters
Benefits of the Chatbot
There is wide public hesitation when it comes to making a complaint against social offenses. The chatbot helps people to register complaints without hesitation. It is highly beneficial to citizens who are unable to contact the commission physically.
Other similar initiatives
The DCPCR recently launched the Early Warning System. The Education Department of Delhi brought back 50,000 students to schools using the system. The main objective of the system is to reduce dropout rates in Delhi.
