Delhi-Kathmandu bus service flagged off
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari flagged off the Delhi-Kathmandu bus service from Delhi. This bus service aims to boost trade and tourism and will also strengthen the bilateral ties between India and Nepal.
Key Facts
- The bus will run between Delhi and Kathmandu daily. It will cover the distance of 1,250 km in around 30 hours.
- The bus will travel via the Yamuna expressway to Agra, Firozabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur and Sunauli and thereafter will enter Nepalese territory to reach Kathmandu.
- This bus service will be a direct one and not pick up and drop passenger anywhere in between the route.
- There is a provision of advance booking for this bus service. The passengers will have to carry proof of identification while purchasing the ticket.
It is the second international bus service by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). First international bus service was Delhi-Lahore service, launched in 1999. In future, Indian Government is also planning to start similar bus services to every neighboring country.
