Delhi Film Policy 2022

Government of Delhi is all set to pitch Delhi as an international filmmaking destination, by approving “Delhi Film Policy 2022”.

Highlights

On February 24, 2022, Delhi Cabinet approved India’s most progressive state film policy in a bid to promote Delhi as a hub for cinema activities of European standards.
Delhi Film Policy 2022 was approved to enable inclusive growth through tourism in the union territory.
It is an extremely progressive policy, introduced after studying film promotion and tourism policies closely, on a global scale.
It will help in generating jobs, boosting sectors of the economy, and instilling a sense of pride among the people.

Objectives of Delhi Film Policy 2022

Objectives of the ‘Delhi Film Policy 2022’ include:

To promote an environment where city residents associate with what they visualise on silver screen with their society and culture.
To enable branding of Delhi as a destination, that has been developed for promoting film production and attracting enthusiastic audiences to Delhi.
To promote growth of artistic expression and languages with focus on the fact that, regional languages are provided support, throughout India and abroad.

Single Window Clearance

As per new policy, Delhi government will provide single window clearance portal called “e-film clearance portal”, to get all the clearances related to area, roads, security and likewise on a single platform. For clearance, they will have to apply online and pay online. Within 15 days, they can get all approvals or rejections.

Delhi Film Fund

Delhi government will also provide subsidies of up to Rs 3 crore for the films made in Delhi. This will reduce overall production cost of the film. Subsidies will be provided as per certain parameters. Delhi Film Fund, with an initial allocation of Rs 50 crore, will be established to brand Delhi as a national and international tourism destination from film promotion POV.

Delhi Film Card

Delhi Film Card of a value of Rs 1 lakh will also be introduced, for offering special deals and packages to production agencies and filmmakers. Those in possession of the film card, will be offered a package of discounted services such as travel within Delhi, accommodation, logistics, and security personnel management.
