Defence Space Research Agency
The Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the setting up of Defence Space Research Agency (DSRO) entrusted with the task of creating space warfare weapon systems and technologies.
About the Agency
- The DSRO would be provided with a team of scientists working in close coordination with the tri-services integrated defence staff officers.
- DSRO would be vested with the responsibility to provide research and development support to the members of the three services to help in fighting wars in the space.
- DSRO to be set up in Bengaluru under an Air Vice Marshal-rank officer and will gradually take over the space-related capabilities of the three forces.
DSRO is part of the government s attempt to strengthen the security apparatus of the country.
