‘DD Assam’ channel launched by I&B Ministry
The Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Prakash Javadekar, has launched DD Assam channel in a virtual function attended by the secretary of the I&B Department, Doordarshan DG, among others.
Details of the DD Assam Channel
This satellite channel will be available 24*7 and it is going to be a gift to the state and its people. The main objective of launching this channel is that it will showcase the rich history of the state as it has a rich diversity with regard to nature as well as people. Assam also has a lot to say regarding the people of the state and the country. It will help the government to disseminate the information pertaining to the government programs to the grass-root level.
Significance
The North-Eastern region in the country is full of diversity and cultural richness but at the same time, it carries the message of unity in diversity. This region is mainly a bit detached from mainland India and also discrimination of people from this region takes place in the mainland. This move will certainly try to curb that to a certain extent.
