The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar in a written reply to the lower house of the Parliament, Lok Sabha on Tuesday, 10th December 2019 informed that the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare has constituted a Task Force to develop a comprehensive Database of Farmers.
The Database for Farmers will provide better monitoring, planning strategy formulation and smooth implementation of Schemes for the Farmers across the country.
The centralized database will be useful for various activities such as issuing soil health cards, precision farming, smart cards for farmers to facilitate e-governance, dissemination of crop advisories to the farmers, grant of agricultural subsidies. settlement of compensation claims etc.
Under PM-KISAN, 90,165,852 farmers have been registered in the country as on 30th November 2019, out of which 5,813,813 farmers are registered from the state of Rajasthan.
