Dakshin Shakti
The Dakshin Shakti Exercise was held in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. It was conducted in the marine and marshy areas of Rann of Kutch. The Rann of Kutch is located on the Pakistan border.
What is Dakshin Shakti Exercise?
The Dakshin Shakti Exercise was held between Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Indian Air Force, Border Security Force and local police. The main objective of the exercise was to check how well the forces worked together. It was held in November 2021.
What are the key events?
- During the exercise, aerial attacks were simulated. Also, special Heliborne operations and use of swarm drones were part of the drill.
- Intelligence operations were practiced during the exercise.
- The Indian Army exhibited its efficiency to function in saltwater and marshy environments. Also, the India Army showed its readiness to respond quickly in short period of time.
What was the main focus of the exercise?
The main focus of Dakshin Shakti was Integrated Battle Groups. The Indian Army was planning to test the Integrated Battle Group since 2019. The Integrated Battle Groups has two squads. They work to prevent and defend against hostile attacks. Tanks, air defence and artillery are all part of Integrated Battle Group. Engineers, Infantry personnel and support units are all part of the Integrated Battle Group. The main and unique feature of IBG is that when required during the attack, it will not take long to prepare the unit.
