Notes:- The Arihant is a class of Indian nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines being built for the Indian Navy. They were developed under the Rs 900 billion Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) project to design and build nuclear-powered submarines.
- Kalvari Class Scorpene submarines are built at India’s Mazagon Dock in partnership with France’s Naval Group under Project 75.
- Sindhughosh class submarines are Kilo-class diesel-electric submarines and are designated 877EKM. The ships are the products of a contract between Rosvooruzhenie and the Union Ministry of Defence.
- The Shishumar class vessels (Type 1500) are diesel-electric submarines which have been developed by the German yard Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW). The first two of these vessels were built by HDW at Kiel, while the remainder has been built at Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) in Mumbai. The ships were commissioned between 1986 and 1994.

Notes:- A five-member Committee for Reforms in Criminal Law has been set up by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs at the National Law University (Delhi). It will be chaired by Ranbir Singh. The mandate of the committee is to recommend reforms in the criminal laws of the country in a principled, effective and efficient manner, which ensures the safety and security of the individual, the community and the nation and which prioritises the constitutional values of justice, dignity and inherent worth of the individual.
- Madhav Menon Committee was entrusted to draft the “Draft National Policy on Criminal Justice”. The committee submitted its report in the year of 2007, advocating a complete overhaul of the whole criminal justice system of India.
- UPA government in March 2005 constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Justice Rajinder Sachar to study the condition of the Muslim community in India and to prepare a comprehensive report on their social, economic and educational status.
