Notes:- The Government has prepared a new draft National Youth Policy (NYP) after reviewing the existing draft of National Youth Policy, 2014. The new draft NYP seeks to catalyse widespread action on youth development across five priority areas: Education, Employment & entrepreneurship, Youth leadership & development, Health, fitness & sports, social justice. The draft policy is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
- The NYP-2014 identifies five well-defined objectives and 11 priority areas and suggests policy interventions in each priority area. The priority areas are education, skill development and employment, entrepreneurship, health and healthy lifestyle, sports, promotion of social values, community engagement, participation in politics and governance, youth engagement, inclusion and social justice. It has replaced NYP-2003.

The slender loris is a nocturnal animal. It is considered endangered according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species. Notes:- National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an organisation that assesses and accredits higher education institutions (HEIs) in India. It was established as an autonomous institution under University Grants Commission (UGC). It is headquartered in Bengaluru.
- It is an outcome of the recommendations of the National Policy in Education (1986) which laid special emphasis on upholding the quality of higher education in India.
- The mandate of the NAAC as reflected in its vision statement is in making quality assurance an integral part of the functioning of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
- The NAAC functions through its General Council (GC) and Executive Committee (EC) comprising educational administrators, policymakers and senior academicians from a cross-section of Indian higher education system. The Chairperson of the UGC is the President of the GC of the NAAC.
- Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), with a record of at least two batches of students graduated or been in existence for six years, whichever is earlier, are eligible to apply for the process of Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) of NAAC, and fulfill all the specified conditions. Under the new manual released by NAAC, colleges and universities that have completed even one academic year will be eligible to apply for a newly created category of ‘Provisional Accreditation for Colleges’ or PAC. The PAC, which will not offer any grading, will be valid for two years, and institutions cannot get it more than two times.
