Notes:- The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) is an independent judicial body established by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. It is based in Hamburg, Germany.
- The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) settles issues involving territorial and maritime conflicts, sovereignty, human rights, foreign investments, and regional trade, among other things, between member nations, international organizations, and private parties. Rulings are binding in nature. But the PCA has no powers to enforce the rulings. India is a member.
- The European Court of Human Rights is an international court set up in 1959. It rules on individual or State applications alleging violations of the civil and political rights set out in the European Convention on Human Rights. The jurisdiction of the court has been recognized by all the 46 member states of the council of Europe and Russia. Recently, Russian Parliament has voted to break with ECHR.
