Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the new Naval Ensign (flag) at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi
The Indian Flag is placed on the top left of the flag, while a blue octagonal shape that encompasses the national emblem sits atop an anchor on the right, which depicts steadfastness. The octagonal shape has been designed to represent eight directions, depicting the multi-directional reach and of the Indian Navy. The twin golden borders surrounding it are inspired from Chhatrapati Shivaji.

Notes:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a loan of USD 2.9 billion to Sri Lanka. The country is battling its worst economic crisis since independence in 1948.
Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe, who is also the country’s Finance Minister, presented his first budget, which aimed to boost revenue and fight inflation.

The Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri presented Smart Solutions Challenge & Inclusive Cities Awards 2022. They were launched in April 2022.
These awards are an initiative of the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and the United Nations (UN) in India to address city-level accessibility and inclusion challenges faced by persons with disabilities (PwD), women, girls and the elderly.

Notes:
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has approved Tejas Mark-2 Project. It has sanctioned 6,500 crore rupees for designing and developing of Tejas Mark-2 fighter jet. It is manufactured by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The advanced version of the indigenous Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA) will feature a series of additions to its flight and fight capabilities. Tejas 2.0 will be equipped with more powerful engines and indigenously developed Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar.

Notes:
Ministry of Road Transport and Highway constituted an Expert Committee, chaired by Tata Narsingh Rao. He is the Director of International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad.
Based on the recommendations of the expert committee report, the Ministry has issued amendments including additional safety requirements related to battery cells, on-board charger, design of battery pack, thermal propagation due to internal cell short circuit leading to fire etc.
