World Heart Day is an annual event, observed every year on 29th September. The day is celebrated by organizing various events globally to raise awareness about the heart disease and its preventive measures to manage the cardiovascular diseases.
This year, the theme of the ‘World Heart Day’ is ‘Use Heart, Know Heart’.

Russia is set to hike defence spending by almost 70 per cent in 2024, its finance ministry document published showed.
The document said defence spending was set to jump by over 68 per cent year-on-year to almost 10.8 trillion rubles (USD 111.15 billion), totalling around 6 per cent of GDP. Russia has been pouring resources into its full-scale offensive in Ukraine.

Recently, a two-day UN Convention against Transnational Organised Crime Ministerial Conference was held at Palermo in Italy.
It is organised by the Government of Italy and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNDOC) Secretariat. Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai attended the conference to mark the 20th anniversary of United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crimes (UNTOC).

Recently, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), India’s largest specialized green finance Non-Banking Finance Company, has received an upgrade from the ‘Schedule B’ category to the prestigious ‘Schedule A’ category among Central Public Sector Enterprises.
This elevation in status was formally enacted through an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has officially confirmed this upgrade.

Notes:
The Ministry of Home Affairs has opened two more border tourist destinations ‘Marsemik La and Sko valley’ for tourists visiting Ladakh.
The previously restricted areas were close to the strategic Chang Chenmo sector north of Pangong lake in Ladakh. Tourists are allowed to trek through this high-altitude valley.
