Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra is introducing a ropeway safari for the first time. It is the largest and oldest tiger reserve in the state, located in Chandrapur district. The name “Tadoba” comes from a local deity worshipped by forest tribes, while “Andhari” refers to the Andhari River. The reserve covers 625.4 sq. km, including 116.55 sq. km of Tadoba National Park and 508.85 sq. km of Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary. It connects to Nagzira-Navegaon and Pench Tiger Reserves, situated in the Central Plateau province of the Deccan Peninsula.

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi unveiled ‘Agniastra,’ a multi-target detonation device, at the Army Commanders Conference in Gangtok. It improves room interventions and bunker destruction, aiding counter-terrorism operations. The device, known as WEDC, enhances safety and reliability over the older Exploder Dynamo Capacitor, which had a limited range of 400 meters. The new microprocessor-based detonation system, developed by Major Rajprasad, operates in both wired and wireless modes with a range of 2.5 km. It allows selective and simultaneous firing of multiple targets, making it highly effective for safe demolition operations. This innovation significantly enhances counter-terrorism efforts and IED destruction, ensuring better safety for troops during critical missions.

World Migratory Bird Day is a global campaign to raise awareness about conserving migratory birds. It emphasizes the importance of international cooperation for their protection. In 2024, it was celebrated on 11 May and 12 October, marking the seasonal migrations in both hemispheres. The 2024 theme is “Protect Insects, Protect Birds.”

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has met WHO standards for safety, efficacy, and quality in vaccine regulation. CDSCO is India’s National Regulatory Authority for medical devices, operating under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) heads CDSCO, with its headquarters in New Delhi.
CDSCO’s responsibilities include new drug approvals, clinical trials, drug standards, import quality control, and coordination with state regulators. It also grants licenses for critical drugs like blood products, vaccines, and IV fluids, along with state authorities.
